Highway 1 Coastside

Highway 1 in the unincorporated Midcoast is the key and only connecting transportation route. The current focus is the Highway 1 Safety and Mobiity Study and the roadmap forward.

    Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Study Phase 2 Draft

    The Highway 1 Study was presented to the community in a Community Forum jointly hosted by the San Mateo County Planning and Building Department, Supervisor Don Horsley and the Midcoast Community Council.

      Community Focus in the Highway 1 Study

      The Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Study offers specific considerations and alternatives for Midcoast communities. Some examples with study page numbers are shown below.

PHASE 2: Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Improvement Study - Draft

This is the current study for public review and comment at the February 29 meeting. The focus is on the communities of Montara and Moss Beach and the route north through Devil's Slide.

Community Planning Meetings were held in 2011. Meetings for Community Comment & the submission to the Board of Supervisors are planned for 2012.

Background:

April, Mary, 2011: A second phase of the Highway 1 Safe and Mobility Project began in April. The closing presentation was held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 7:30pm in the El Granada Elemtary School Multi-Purpose room. The final study report and further information on the Phase 2 project and the slides from the May 26 presentation of plan concepts are available on the San Mateo County Web Page

 

2009/2010 San Mateo County and the Local Government Commission conducted a participatory planning effort to improve Highway 1 safety in the San Mateo Midcoast. This event was formally known as "The Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Improvement Study". The informal name was Traffic and Trails.

The report issued, Highway 1 Safety and Mobility Improvement Study (implicitly Phase 1), was approved by the Board of Supervisors.
